3D Art - Blog #18 Final

Bookmaking Project:
  1. What did you learn to do in this project?
When doing this project, I learned how to glue, fold, and create/design a book. I learned how to decorate the pages according to my theme as well.
  2. What materials/media did you learn to use?
While doing this project, I used many different materials and media. I used glue to help keep the pages together, and scissors to cut out the cover pages. I used many medias, such as pens, pencils, markers, copic markers, sharpie markers, watercolors and watercolor pencils, and gel pens
  3. In your opinion- how did your project turn out?
I really do like my project! I love the theme I chose and the various colors I used. I think it turned out very well!

Paper Sculpture:
  1. What did you learn to do in this project?
While doing this project, I learned that it takes a lot of time in order to roll enough pieces of paper in order to make a significant tower. It took me forever just to get the amount that I needed!
  2. What materials/media did you learn to use?
While doing this project, I used pieces of paper and glue to keep the rolls together. I also used paper clips to hold the paper together while the rolls dried.
  3. In your opinion- how did your project turn out?
I don't really like how this project turned out. It's a bit uneven and strange looking. I like the colors I used though. But overall, it's not really how I imaged it to turn out.

Repousse Project
  1. What did you learn to do in this project?
I learned how to create indents in the copper piece in order to make a design. I also learned how to indent a part of the project even further than what I had before.
  2. What materials/media did you learn to use?
I mainly used the wooden flat tools in order to great smooth impressions. I also used the yellow handled tools in order to "outline" my design and create smaller indents

  1. In your opinion- how did your project turn out (or is turning out?)
So far, I really like the way it is turning out. I'm happy with the way it looks and I think it will look awesome when it is done!! I love the bubble effect that I put in the background.

Repousse Piece

So far I have learned that flipping the piece over and working from different sides makes a nice texture.
I plan to add a background to it.

Peter Paul Rubens

I chose this image because I think it represents how women used to be in the olden days. I like how they used to dress back then.

Large Scale Sculpture

Name: Ben Blanc

This piece interests me because I've always loved Elephants because they are very intelligent animals and I love that they made it a scaled sculpture to what an actual elephant size might be.
It's a large scale because of how big it is, much like the size of an elephant.

My project so far #2

So far, my project is still at the same place it was about a week ago. I am still creating little rolls of paper just like the ones pictured. I plan on making something out of the rolls of paper, possibly a word or object! :) So far I have learned that I am going to need a lot more paper rolls than I initially thought I would!!

Interesting 3D Art

I thought this sculpture is very interesting because the way the fish seems to go through the wall. I like how they made the fish golden because it makes it stick out and it catches the eye a lot easier than if it were to be a different color.

My project so far

So far, my project consists of about 100 of little rolls of paper such as this one. I plan on gluing together all of the pieces to form the word "Art." I think when I finish it, it will look really cool and unique. So far, I have learned that rolling pieces of paper is a lot more boring than I thought it would be!! :)

Andy Warhol

I've always been a fan of Warhol's artwork. For some reason, taking every day icons and items and turning them into something so much more is just fascinating to me. I chose his "Campbell's Soup Can" because when I was in painting class, I recreated one of these cans for my artist project. I've always loved Campbell's soup and it's always been a part of my childhood.

What I've learned.

In the past week, I learned how to hold together rolls of paper by using paper clips. I use this technique in order to wait for my rolls of paper to dry so that I do not have to hold them together. I can glue more together while I am waiting for other to dry.

Vincent van Gogh

I chose "Starry Night" because for some reason this painting has always interested me. I absolutely love looking at the stars and knowing that there's so much more beyond our own world that is yet to be explored and I feel like this painting is always a great reminder of that.

3D Sculptures

When doing my paper sculpture, I learned how to roll paper into even cylinders and how to cut it to even lengths. I made sure to carefully roll my paper so that each roll is equal in width and they all look nicely rolled. I also cut the paper to equal lengths so that they all lined up and would fit together uniformly.

Paper Sculptures.

I really like this paper sculpture because it give you a nice piece of artwork on your wall without having to go out and kill animals. You can just fold the paper and make a very cool geometric animal or animal head.
The artist uses folding techniques in order to create unique geometric shapes on the animal's body part.

My Book

I wish I wouldn't have colored in the "pura vida" on my 5th page of this book. Its really the only thing that's colored in besides the covers and I feel like it kind of sticks out and is abnormal within the rest of the book.
I am most proud of the drawings I did and my covers. I like the way I put them together and made them symmetrical.

Handmade Books

I found a VHS hand made book. I thought this was interesting because I remember when I was young, I loved watching VHS tapes with my favorite movies on them. I thought it was the most unique of all the ones I found. I think the artist split the tape in half and bound paper inside of them. The pages in the book all have gear shaped holes in them to mimic the original content of the plastic covers.

What I´ve Learned

Last week I learned how to draw on the cover of my book. I used outlining markers to outline my letters and drawing. :)

Things I've learned

Last week I learned how to put the cover on the book we are working on. I thought we would do it differently than the way we did, but we were taught how to cut the corners off and glue it to the hard book cover. I also learned that when you let the rubber cement dry on both halves, it will stick a lot better than if you were to stick them together while they were still wet.

Interesting Artwork

When I was looking through the internet, I found this picture that I thought was very creative and unusual. When I saw it, it took me back to when I was a child and when I feel I had a much more creativity than what I have as a young adult. This picture reminds me of something like the game 'the floor is lava.' It seems that these people, assumably children, are expressing their creativity by walking on the fence and thinking it's a tightrope. I also thought about how 'walking on the fence' is an idiom for being undecided on a certain decision. I feel that some decisions can be dangerous and scary, hence the reason for the tightrope.

About Me.

I am a student from New Hampton High School. I live North of New Hampton near a very small town called Jerico, Iowa. In my free time I like to explore the technology of the internet and spend time with my friends and family. Some days I spend my time listening to music and drawing. I like listening to all kinds of music, however, country and pop are the genres I listen to the most. Something interesting about myself is that I absolutely love to travel and see new places. I hope that when I get older I can visit all of the 7 continents and visit many countries as well.
In my 3D art class, I hope to learn new techniques and advance in my art skills. To me, art is a way to express your individualism and ideas through a form of art media that you feel you advance at.
